About Awesome Academy
Stemming from early sketches on wooden planks and building walls, Awesome Academy, formerly known as HUG LIFE, is a rising company rooted in its deep ties with other prominent urban clothing companies. The artist behind Awesome Academy, Philip Lumbang, entered a rite of passage when he became a designer for Shepard Fairey’s Studio One as a graphic artist for Obey. After several of his original street murals were recognized, Philip was featured in an October 2009 article in the pop culture magazine ‘Giant Robot’ with one of his bears prominently displayed on the cover. Soon, Philip was tapped by Bobby Hundreds, the creator and founder of The Hundreds Clothing Brand, and was asked to be the feature artist for the Rosewood Collection, a series of special edition shirts exclusively available at The Hundreds stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Starting from three simple designs featuring Philip’s bears, AWESOME ACADEMY has steadily become a very popular in the California street-apparel and fine arts markets.
Established in 2010, AWESOME ACADEMY, formerly known as HUG LIFE, has created wearable art for the hip and fresh to death crowd.
From it’s roots of Sacramento to the streets of LA, AWESOME ACADEMY is turnin’ heads with its politely dope illustrations and clothing designs, spreading the neglected philosophy of genuine happiness and simple smiles.
Be the first to witness AWESOME ACADEMY as it begins to humbly make its way from the canvas to your closet.
We’re not a brand little man, we’re a lifestyle.
